I think an important consideration in aiming is finding out which eye is dominant. When I am teaching a friend to throw for the first time I have them stick their thumb up on their throwing hand and interpose it onto the bull. I then have them close their left eye, open it, close the right, and open it. And ask them which eye when open is closer to the bull. Usually if they are right handed they are right eye dominant, and left handed, left eye dominant. I then tell them to hold the dart what ever is natural for them near their dominant eye. Sometimes a person will be right handed and left eye dominant or vice versa. I tell them to stand facing the dart board more and to hold the dart more towards the middle of their body to help let their dominant eye aim.

I also agree with the people who have written previously that you need to practice getting a consistent throw. I went through a phase where I didn't really aim I just grabbed the dart, pulled my arm up to the throwing position and threw the dart all in one motion. I actually did well for a while until I decided to change it to a more standard aim and throw sequence.

Well I hope this helps out a little, and just keep shooting. =)
